Mouth rot or disease? Lip is swollen and turning out on one side, help!

laurachel May 18, 2004 05:12 PM

Hey guys,

Rainbows are known for their skin diseases, which respond well and easily to treatment...but this is different...

My adult female BRB's lip on her left side is curling outward slightly and is swollen. How should I approach treatment?

Thanks and God bless,

Stevo

Stevo,
. It might be an abscess. I would watch it for a couple days. Slightly higher cage temp for a short time may help the snake use natural defenses against infection. Infections often clear up on their own. If it does not clear up it may need a vet visit for irrigation and debridement and or antibiotics.
