split brain problem/question

alkalineknot May 19, 2004 09:32 AM

Ok I had trouble getting my western to eat a few months ago... then i tried split brained, and he ate fine. Now however he will not eat these even! Is it possible that he needs more and more gore for him to be interested (like cutting the pinks up?) any ideas or suggestions are welcome!!!!!!!

How long has it not eatten for? You should probably just give it time. Don't scent unless the snake is really in danger. I have a hognose snake that wouldn't eat for almost a year. Now he takes f/t as usual. He just needed some time. Offer it food as you normally would if it was eating. Scenting and split braining are for hatchling snakes mostly.

When I first got my little girl she took a brained and then nothing. I let her go a couple weeks and still nothing. Then, while killing a pink for her I dropped it in some fur/shavings etc on the floor and had to wash it. Damned if she didn't wolf it down. From there she started taking prekilled/ f/t pinks WASHED. Now she is willing to eat anything and everything. Somethin' to try and less gory than beheading a live pink....like my one Corn wants.
