AFT Gecko Questions

Cotton May 19, 2004 02:21 PM

I was thinking about getting one, possiblely breeding them in the future. I have a few questions.

1. Can they be kept together? (Assuming only one male. I think I heard they will fight)

2. Do they need UV lights? (I thought most lizards do, but these are nocternal right?)

3. Any tips? Recommended reading?

Never house two males together as they will fight. If you don’t want eggs then only house females together.

2. Do they need UV lights? (I thought most lizards do, but these are nocternal right?)
Fat-tails are nocturnal so they don’t need any form of UV light.

3. Any tips? Recommended reading?
Fat-tails are awesome geckos. I’ve found that they are tamer than a leo is. They tolerate handling very well and I would recommend them to anyone. In the book “The Leopard Gecko Manual” there’s a section dedicated to fat-tails. Since leos and fat-tails are so close I would just read the entire book. =)

On a side note, they are known to be a little more "touchy" to change and eating habits compared to that of leopard geckos.

ATF's are wonderful little guys (my first and personal favorite). their eating habits will change at the drop of a hat though.
