PLEASE HELP......PIC of something that i found today

ReddQuake May 19, 2004 02:38 PM

I found this in the water dish of my crested gecko Zeek this morning when i went to move the tank.

She is healthy andhas showed NO signs of being ill. She eats well and poops normal. But i found this and i don't know what it is. I'm thinking some sort of worm but i've never seen one like that. It never moved so could it be part of her reproductive system???

If you know what this is or have an idea......please help me out.

THanks
Redd

I have no idea, but I can tell you what I'd do. I'd throw it in the freezer and then watch the gecko closely for the next several days. If she starts behaving abnormally, I'd get her (and whatever that thing is) to a good reptile vet.

Unfortunetly i already threw it out, wearing gloves all the while. I only thought about keeping it for a vet afterwards..........

Ya know come to think of it Zeek was hiding alot over the past 2 days. She wouldn't come out of hiding under her log at all, even for food. Then this morning i found that thing. She's out and about today and doing great. I'm surprised i never had any indication that she was sick though, nothing wrong with her feces and she has been eating well.

Thanks again

Redd,

in my opinion, it looks like a peice of a plant. (You do have plants in the enclosure, huh)?

Secondly, if you ever found signs of endoparasites (internal pests), take him to have a fecal exam done. (Fecal exams should be done twice a year anyways).

But once again, without further investigation, it looks like a part of a plant to me.

I only have artificial plants in their setups and this thing was definitely organic. The feces has to be fresh right? I've been trying to catch her in the act and get one but i always miss it and its usually dried up.

I'll talk to my vet and see what they say.
