$199 cages.........

Hoppy May 19, 2004 08:16 PM

I saw that someone below was posting a question on cages. I was browsing through some cage websites last night and came across some thing…..
First I want to say that I do not sell cage or have any deals with any guys to sell their cages. I have always used cages from Doug Barrs at www.herpcage.com. I started out with them five or so years ago with the cages for my corns and called him the next year for some Boa cages and he built them for me. I like Doug’s cages, I have never had any problems with them, they are light weight and easy for me to add my own heat and lights to. The prices on them are about the cheapest around, or so I thought so……
Last night I was doing some browsing through Jeff Ronne’s Web Site and looked at Boaphile plastics. He has some great ideas with his cages and you can tell that they are built with the snake/boa guy in mind. His 4x2x11.5” cage is $199.00 if bought alone, if Bought in a Stack they go down to the $172.00 range with a bottom pedestal. This pedestal is brilliant for us old farts that don’t want to get too low anymore. Ever since I had my knee smashed in it has been difficult for me to work on the bottom cages. I have brought most of them off the floor by 11” with some tables and I was planning on making bottom cabinets for them this season. Jeff already had it in mind and you can buy a stack of 5 cage with one pedestal for 1065.00 all shipped to your house, that’s great!! It’s one damn ghost boa for a stack of cages!!! He also sells corner expansions and 2’ blind expansions, all of which are great ideas. I am considering getting a couple of stacks from him this season to see how I like his cages, anyone else using them, oh and he will install the heat in the 5 cages for only $72.00 for all 5!
I though this was great but anyone who has used them please let me know.
Thanks

Boaphiles are great enclosures, and actually much stronger then the 1/4" material would lead you to believe. I have been kicking around myself on ordering a 5 stack since the under 1100 price tag is quite nice.

We currently have 16 Boaphile cages and have found them to function really well for both us and our boas. We also have a couple Barrs cages that out kids keep their corn snakes in. Both manufacturers build great cages, but for the package price you just can't beat the Boaphiles.

He makes good cages. But his customer service is not that good. I ordered a rack almost 4 weeks ago and still have not received it. E mailed him on tues to get the status and still no return. Oh well vision now makes the 4 ft cages for 199.

I seen that add as well fro the new visions. I had wanted to get some boaphile cages - and the shipping is not that expensive - but i would like to "see" them before i purchased them.. which is just not possible. I have tons of shops here that sell the Vision cages... I did like the "new" visions they had out.. I just dont like their vent that runs across the top back of the cage

The boaphiles are good cages except for the fact that after you ad a few things that should come standard it real bumps the price tag up. I real do like them, but you shouldn't have to pay more for things like hings & a third latch, & once you ad heat & a light they are alot closer to $300. Don't get me wrong all my 4' cages are boaphiles, but if your looking for something alittle larger they are not my first choice.

I haven't actually purchased any of their cages yet, but plan to later this year...at least if all goes as planned. I've heard nothing but positives about them from those I've talked to who actually own them. And you really can't beat $199 shipped with that price also including heat (via Flexwatt).

Are nice looking tanks.. they look well built. I was planning on purchasing some boaphiles.. but after checking out those ones from moonstruck.. im haveing second thoughts... Not only do they come with locks, but you can split them up into 2 smaller tanks if needed.. and at 199 shipped thats a sweet deal

I have a moonstruck enclosure and I am very very pleased with it.. It maintains heat and humidity like a champ and holds up extremely well to the 7' male bci who occupies it.
