NEED ADVICE PLEASE

chinoloco36 May 19, 2004 10:37 PM

He guys. I had turtles all my life and I would like to have a tortoise now. What is a good beginner's tortoise? So far I think is the redfoot and leopard. Is this ok?

ALso, are tortoise eggs harder to take care of or are they the same as turtle eggs? THANKS!

I used to have turtles all my life too. Then I didn't have them for about 4 years. When I did start again I started with some russian tortoises. They are really cool torts.

If you happen to have Russian tortoises for starter, make sure your outdoor enclosure are escape-proof ABOVE AND BELOW because they DIGS! people lost theirs in the winter since these SLEEPWALKERS will usually wakes up in your neighbour's yard when Spring comes.

if you've taken care of turtles i think you'll find tortoises will be an easy transition i keep sliders and box turtles so i know the differences between terestrials and aquatic turtles. basically you'll have to read up on the dietry needs of whatever tortoise you pick and humidity and lighting but after that you'll be open to any kind of tortoise you think would be best.

i'd say turtle and tortoise eggs are pretty simular it just depends on the species. turtle eggs seem to take less time to hatch because some tortoises have really long incubation periods.
