Highly variable...but most of mine reach 4-4.5 feet their firt year, 6 feet at 2 year. I have heard of some reaching 6 feet at one year...but I imagine that doen't happen often...or by accident.

Sincerely, Chris

really? 4 foot there first year? thats cool. I was wanting to get a baby, but didnt want it to take 3 years for it to reach a desent size. thanks, you helped out alot. does anyone else have anything to say?

I thought 3 feet after one year was a better approximation. Mine is 9 months old and 29"... that would mean a lot of growing in only 3 months.

It wasn't an estimate...it was my experience. I also have some boas that are 9 months old and they range in size from 33" to 45." I depends very much on the individual animal and the feeding schedule.

Again, that's just my experience.

Respectfully, Chris

thanks everyone for there info. its helped alot!!!!!!!!! and agin thank you. is there a difernt of male and female growth in the first year?

christopher_o May 20, 2004 04:11 PM

Their growth rate is same in similar boas with similar feeding schedules...I notice a difference after about 4ft...the female starts taking on girth faster.

There is a wide variation due to husbandry conditions, geographic origin of the bloodlines, and other factors. No real way to be sure how a Boa constrictor ssp. will grow over time. Chris O. has some Bci that are growing faster than dandelions, and he isn't "power feeding" them at all.

No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful. Everybody dies frustrated and sad, and that is beautiful.

Just kidding...Hey J- I posted a pic of my new male on the rainbow forum, check it.
