shredded paper as substrate?

Nicki May 20, 2004 01:41 PM

Is anyone aware of any issues with using the shredded papers from my office as substrate for my snakes? They are regular printer papers, with ink from inkjet and laser printers. I'm concerned that the ink could be bad for the snakes, but the pile of shredded papers looks like it would be so much FUN for my little guys to play in!!!

Thanks for any help!

i tried shredded unprinted newspaper on rodents and it killed them, the dust gave them respirotary problems.office paper is probaly not as dusty, but is it worth chanceing it? i think the dust is the major concern not the ink.

I never thought of that, but that makes complete sense. Thanks!
