Customer Problem - Weird

dmlove May 20, 2004 03:02 PM

Alright, this may be hard to explain, but i have had some really weird customer problems lately. Well it started when this one guy emailed me from holland wanting babies. I said i did not export. The last part of his email was like dbnetz.com . Well anyway, after about 2 days, another guy emails me, with the end of his email with dbnetz.com . It was also a different name. I noted several things common about each post, like he asked the exact thing twice on both, and signed his name in CAPS. This new guy wanted one of our adults, which i told him were not for sale. He then said he wanted 2 babies, but i told him we do not export. He said he has a "reliable shipping client" and would "take care of the shipping". then he said that he wanted 6 babies, and said that he would send me the money for 6 babies, and then 3000 dollars more for shipping. This made me sceptical, because thats a lot of money for shipping. He said after he sends the check he wants me to immediatly electronically transfer the money by a certain bank transfer system (he specified). This made me very wary, maybe a scam? But I told him again we didnt export, and then today i got another email from another guy with the ending of the email dbnetz.com He said he was from holland, AGAIN, but i immediatly told him i dont export, but he keeps emailing me saying that he wants the final price. This confuses me and frustrates me. I obviosuly am not doing business with this guy, because i beleive that he is a fraud and that he is making up new names and idk. Anyone have any ideas? anyone have this happen to them?

Thanks...for my rant.

What they do is send you a check or moneyorder that is no good and then you drop 3 grand in thier account of your own money then the check doesn't clear and you are stuck!!! Also be aware of viruses that this person could have attached to the emails he sent that could end up giving him your personal info such as credit card numbers, etc....

to have questioned it, many people have lost thousands. The quickest way to get these guys off your back is to forward the email to your local mail fraud division.

if you believe it to be a fraud, you can contact your local police dept or FBI internet fraud dept. In florida, $3000 makes it a felony

Hi,

Yeah this is a definite scam. Check out this site (http://personal.stevens.edu/~achadzyn/powerbook/) for a funny story of somebody who recently fought back against this sort of thing. The PDF file linked a few inches down the page has the main story, and the front page of the site has all the pictures of the "product" that the person eventually shipped to the scammer.

Don't try this at home. . .

Yeah, it's a scam... these kinds of things have been all over eBay for years..

They see you have a high dollar item for sale, "send message to seller", and want to send you a cheque for three or four times the value, and want you to do whatever... basically, the end result is you being (usually) a coupla grand + your initial product (or in this case, but not on eBay, animals) out-of-pocket.

Trying to scam animals from him by insisting that they sent a money order 2-4 weeks ago and he should trust this and send the animal, come on how stupid are these morons? Ive told him before the same, no money, no product, too bad so sad.
There are several people on reptibid that win auctions and on Ks.com classifieds that try it also, businesses that try scamming customers also. He had a problem with a long time scam business that advertised here for years with a fancy web site etc but a scam in reality, they tried ripping him off and not delivering, we reported them to "scam-busters", fraud-busters, this website, interpoll, the FBI, the original BOI, and a few other organizations (FTC, etc), and they disappeared from the reptile industry in a week or 2. Its amazing how quickly you can at least temporarily stop scam artists, if it doesnt completely stop them.
Dont take it sitting down, take the scam and shove it right back down their throats, dont be a victim, teach em a lesson. Good luck.

Yep, I think some rubber lizards are in order. Too bad it costs so much to fed-ex overseas.

I got an email last Christmas from someone saying they belonged to something similar to Make a Wish Foundation. I was supposed to believe that a childs dying wish was a free hammock for his lizard. In the e-mail, the person mentioned his supervisors name.
I told him to send me his supervisors number so I could check that it was in fact a number to this foundation. Never heard another word ...
They musta thought I just fell off the turnip truck!!
