Cage size for a young Cali King Snake?

sullman May 20, 2004 05:13 PM

I have a spare 10 gallon tank and am buying a 50/50 this weekend. He is small in size, about 20 total inches in length and was wondering if I could house him in a 10 gallon for a month or two? I read somewhere that a king snake can live in a 10 gallon tank until they reach around 23-24 inches in length then require a 20 - 30 gallon tank min. So would this 10 gallon I have be a good spot for him for awhile? Thanks!

I'm new to kings myself, but I'd say that's okay. My little girl (she's just under 20 inches) has been in a quarantine tub (about the size of a 10 gallon) for a month now and it seems to pleny of room for her.
