I RESCENTLY NOTICED THAT I HAVE A SEVERE OUT BREAK OF MITES IN MY BEARDED DRAGON CAGE. 4 OF MY SIX JUVINILES IN THE CAGE ARE COVERED IN THEM. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD ANY INFO ON THE FASTEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF GETTING RID OF THEM IS. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRETIATED. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

I just thought that I had mites in my cage also! After doing a lot of research into the subject one name kept coming up,Provent-a-mite. Everyone I spoke with said this stuff does wonders, just follow the directions. If you can't find that try Zoomeds Mite-off.

I have heard good things too, but be careful with the juvies. They tend to be more sensitive to it than adults. Where did the mites come from??

I have no idea where they came from. One day i saw a little bit of red on the head of one of them and just thought it was starting to get some more red to her. Then the next time I checked the red had spred and examined it closely and saw it was mites. And by then they were all over her and some of the other dragons too.

I read some articles about these predatory mites for reptile collections and this seems to be the best and safest solution for reptile owners! Every article or reptile owner who have used these as a way to get rid of snake mites have said this is the best treatment they have ever used. One of these predator mites eat anywhere from 5-20 snake mites a day. This includes the eggs, larva and adults! These are usually sold for gardens to get rid of springtails and other garden pests. They are harmless to reptiles and will die off once they eat all the snake mites.

Those little red mites most likely are chiggers as the true 'snake mite' is an exotic that is from Africa.

Here is a webpage that offers these mites for sale!

If they are chiggers will the mite take care of them as well.
