First i used moss which worked well but i wanted to try bed-a- beast so i got some o that and now i have "Glitter Grade" Vermiculate that came with the hovabator i just ordered, how good is this to use in a humid hide (and in 5 months a laybox/humidhide )

I made my humid hide out of a tupperware container which is square about 6"x6" and about 4 inches high. Cut a hole in the lid and put some moist vermiculite that came with my incubator from LLLReptile.com. My male stayed in it for like the first 2 days I put it in, I guess he loves it. My female just laid eggs in it today :D so I give vermiculite in a humid hide the thumbs up.. It also serves as a good lay box.

the vermicultie for a humid hide or lay box is too corse and the risj of the leo eating it and getting impacted is very great. i would use spahum peat that you can but at most any lawn store, i know wal mart caries it and so does lowes and home depot

We are currently using EcoEarth/Bed-A-Beast for all nesting boxes except colubrids and seems to do an excellent job at retaining moisture and is economical.

I have been using vermiculite for as long as i have been using humid boxes. It works great, holds the moisture, and my geckos love it. It also keeps eggs safe if you don't find them right away. I've also tried moss and my leos didn't go in their boxes at all with it. I guess it depends on the leo too.

I have used bed-a-beast this year with great, great results. I stay away from vermiculite anymore even in the incubator I have went to Perlite using the incubation method at www.albeysreptiles.com you can't go wrong here.
