wow, those are both pretty. One of the common reasons folks don't pick mud and musks for pets is the normally bland coloration. A bunch like that in the pet trade might turn that opinion around. Anybody breeding animals like that for this purpose?
There are some 'pretty' mud turtles out there. But you are correct in that most people think they are all ugly. Not true at all! Just look at some of the redcheeked mud turtles.
In regards to producing extra pretty ones though I only know of one person who is doing that. Mark Packer (Capt. Salty) is producing some OUTSTANDING K. leucostomum. His white lipped muds have very broad yellow bands on their heads.
As far as striped mud turtles are concerned, I doubt that anyone is breeding ones like these. I have only the one really nice female and the others that I have caught like her were all released. I am looking for a comparable male though.
