I believe my tegu is about 5-7 months old and I've had him for 3 weeks... He had just got done shedding when I got him and just just shed again last week...

So I would say about once every 2-4 weeks.. I'm sure all tegus are different, though.

Just checked my record. Loiosh is 19 inches today, up from 13 inches on 5-2-04. He's shedding at least every 2 weeks, body first, then tail. Rocza is 13 inches, growing about an inch per month right now, she sheds about once per month.

Needless to say, Loiosh is a pig, and Rocza is a refined lady with discriminating taste! They are clutchmates, and the only difference other than just basic nature is that Loiosh woke up about 2 weeks before Rocza.

I'd say whatever yours is doing is right for that tegu.

Body first then tail huh? Mine did tail first

I think the reasoning for that is he has gained A LOT of weight since i got him.. And his tail certainly has thickened up!
