Moving frogs into larger vivarium

ecologic72 May 21, 2004 04:51 PM

How old or how large should a dart frog be before adding to the larger vivarium? In a setup with multiple frogs (2-3) of the same species, is it better to introduce them singly or all at once?

are they in a small viv now and you've built a larger one or are they in a holding container. either way you can introduce them all at once. i just recently moved my trio to a larger tank after 1.5 years in the first. didn't see them for about 2 days but now they're loving the space with new decorations and layout.

Hi Gekko, now they're each in individual 2.5 gal aquarium/terrariums: I recently obtained 2 leucs and 3 azureus, which I've had for about a month. They're all between 2-3 months old, seem to be getting nice and fat on fruit flies and termites- very vigorous eaters. Only thing is the D.azureus are all about 2 weeks apart in age so they're different sizes, one is obviously larger than the rest, I think he's the oldest.

I built 2 custom terrariums out of 10 gal- tall "lizard lounge" tanks last year, they've been set up for about as long- they've been planted, tested, monitored, etc. I'm eager to move the frogs into these tanks, to free-up some space here, but do you think I should wait until they are all the same size?

yes, wait til they get roughly the same size or the larger one will dominate on getting food while the smaller ones just have to wait to get whats left.
