i came across an easy 5 foot eastern milk in my compost pile in my backyard,,,,it was basking so i snuck away and came back with gloves and a bag and i couldnt find it,,,i was so mad!!

Are you sure it was an eastern? They average 24-36" and according to my field guide the record is 52". That would be a giant if your interpretation of the size was accurate.

If you search the photo gallery there is an eastern that is HUGE, maybe 4ft. I was surprised too!
