A FORTY GALLON LONG IS A minimum size

reptaguy May 21, 2004 09:56 PM

but would it be alright for a adult male

yes

It is okay as an absolute minimum, but the bigger the enlcosure the happier your lizard will be. If he's already growing to big for a 40 gallon you should seriously consider upgrading for his well-being. Recommended size is 4ftx2ftx2ft or larger. A lot of people are building their own enclosures now. If you search the archives you can probably find a lot of good posts on how to do that.

if you got 60 bucks you can build this one. all it takes is
one sheet of melamine=25 bucks
ones 4x2 sheeyt of plexiglass=15 bucks
15 for all three fixtures uv bulb is the most expensive thing in the cage and this one is 40x20x20, but i am building him a 4x2x2 soon and that is all out of one 4x8 sheet of melamine.

The next time the shuttle lands, lets all get dressed up in ape suits and charge at the astronaughts yelling and ranting. That way they can try to figure out where they took a wrong turn.

Do you think reptariums are any good.Like a 65 gallon

kephy May 22, 2004 09:39 AM

Reptairiums will do, but are not the most recommended. They can be very drafty making it more difficult to control the temps inside, and crickets can chew holes in them. That said, if you can control those types of issues with them I've met a few people who say they worked out great.
