Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake - size

Kerby... May 21, 2004 09:47 PM

What's the longest Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake? Stebbins Field Guide states up to 42 inches. I know that is for wild specimens and I have one (captive bred - Lloyd Lemke stock) that is bigger than that. The aquarium is 20 inches long, and when he is stretched out, he covers the length 2x plus about 6 inches (46 inches).

What is the program that everyone uses for measurements? s,e-r.p,w,i;d'g,e;t,s doesn't work or he has a new web site?

Any comments?

Thanks

Hi Kerby,
My friend Randy Wright has a male that is 62 inches. I guess its going in a book that Brian Hubbs is making-(randy told me that brian had come over to take pics of it, and this was a while ago)I think Rainer even posted pics of it on here before. Take it easy Kerby,
Jeff

PS- whats the prescott pyro babys looking this year..?, did they go..?

Jeff, yes she is gravid and should be dropping eggs in a couple of weeks.

I didn't take my snakes out of brumation until 15 March this year. In fact none of my kings & corns have dropped eggs yet, but are all gravid.

I must have missed that pic....can anyone post it again?

Thanks

Terry
The pic was taken last spring right when he was warimimg things up.
Matter of fact we went up to the San Gabriel mtns that same afternoon and found a pair of adult San Gabriel rosys just a few hours after that pic was taken. That was a fine day!

Hi rainer,
Yeah, thats a snake I've been wanting from Randy for a while now. I have its sibling-( a female, there was a clutch of three, that male you posted, and 2 females. I got the nicer female from randy, he still has the other female) I offerd him an applegate female last year and he wanted to keep that,-(I would though too, its probally one of the best looking normal pyros ever!) low band counts are my favorite looking pyros, so thats why I say the best ever. Those will probally be ready to breed soon, another year or so I'd say. Take it easy Rainer,
Jeff

PS- Went out to coso junction and met up with Jerry for some rosy hunting, we didnt see any rosys, but I guess shannon saw 2 there the next night on his way home from the show, lucky guy.
