50 plus. I don't think age matters much. It's your level of maturity and ability to take on the responsibility of your animals. Who knows this may be your calling and you are a future Jane Goodall or Steve Erwin. Or, you may content with being an interested hobbyist like many of us. Learn all you can about the animal you want or have then give them the best care you can.

Ths is a great forum. The people who contribute all have a little different experiences than you will have with your animals. Read through and pick and choose things that you might want to try. And don't be afraid to ask questions.

How is the Garter snake???

cillie May 24, 2004 10:29 AM

its more actice, it does everything pretty normal so far, except its tail/rib injuries. it really is chowin down on frogs, what other foods chould i try to give it, how should i get it to eat mice other than rubbing frogs on the mice (wich didnt work.)? i put neosporin on its wounds.

Sometimes they will go for earthworms. Maybe scent the mice or cut up little chunks of mice and worms. Or chunks of feeder fish and mice??? I don't know. The neosporin should be OK. With the garters you don't have to have a warm end of the tank. While it is healing a little extra heat would probably help.

so, they dont need a heat lamp?

I dont know anything about these... But I'm guessing a mild heating pad would provide a good warmth...
