OK, I'll bite on the odd chance that you are actually serious with this question. I hope not. First, Its absolutely stupid to house even two members of the same species. Its even stupider to house to different species from opposite ends of the world. They have entirely different care requirements. Finally, its absolutley completely asanine to keep two species together in which one will view the other as prey. Your kingsnake will almost certainly try to eat your ball python, and will probably be successful. I've seen video of a kingsnake killing and eating a snake that was about 20 percent longer and 50 percent bigger around than it was. YOu were kidding, right? Please tell me that wasn't a serious question. If not, then please read about the care requirements for both species and house the accordingly, and seperately! Unbelieveable........

as has been mentioned, 2 seperate species from 2 very different places.

One is colubrid one is python.

Do your reasearch.

If you can't afford to house 2 snakes seperatly, then don't get 2 snakes!

first off...those posts were super rude...but the question was a little insane. This forum is used way too much for beginner questions. something that can be found in any simple ball python care sheet should be left off this forum. NOBODY will tell you you can house those two together. The only things I house together are amazon tree boas. NOTHING can be housed with any king...or anaconda. as DFR stated..even any animal that is a carnivor is a potential canibal. for the responses...lets try and be a little polite folks. It was a question

"This forum is used way too much for beginner questions"

Um...no offense, but where on this website does it state that only "experts" can post questions or concerns here? This forum is here for us (including newbies) to talk about ball pythons and their care. Everyone starts somewhere, and it's ridiculous to expect everyone who comes across this site (which is VERY useful) to know which questions they should or should not post...

We should be helping people who come to us with questions, rather than insulting them and making them feel like idiots. Sometimes we're too quick to criticize.

Too many people here think they are experts, cuz they can breed Ball pythons.......LOL.

I said the responses before mine were a bit rude. I was saying we can handle this far out there question without being rude. looks like I slipped a little but it was not meant to be. I am not an "expert"..nor do I breed ball pythons..."I used to know everything but I forgot most of it" dfr ; ). What I meant was, there are a lot of posts like...how big does a ball python get? or what temperature do I need to keep my ball python? All of this stuff can be found on any care sheet...on this website too I imagine. The threads go forever when posted that way. bedding and heat source questions are great...we all have something different to say. It is really odd to see this question but I forget that even a 4th grader can post in here. And both ball python and cal king are pet store snakes. All I meant by the beginner questions thing was to encourage people to look up their animal and know a little bit first. If you want to ask about the biggest we have seen or what heat sources we think are best...that makes a better beginner question. This website is absolutely for beginners (actually the people who will benefit most over the know it alls)...beginner questions can be worked on.

Not meant to anybody on this thread, but there are a few regulars on here that are way too cocky.

BTW: I've bred leucistic spitting cobras (first one in the US to do so), Eastern Brown snakes (1 of the 2 people in the US to do so), King cobras ( one of the handful of private people in the US to do so). I think these breedings are something to be proud of, and not just a Ball python (that everybody and their brother in the world breeds).

Again, not to you or anybody else on this thread.

Later,
Chad

I don't think I'm an expert. Actually I don't know spit, always learning from my & others mistakes.

I keep a few ball pythons and enjoy them for what they are...As far as breeding...I like to keep it simple my breeding project is ATB's ; )

Sorry about all the rude replies to your question but please don't house them together. Sooner or later your ball will be 'missing'. There are also illnesses/parasites that can & will be transferred from one to the other. Good luck.

a long time ago my dad had a friend that used to keep a Common boa, it was about 4 feet (i think) and some time down the road one of the friends kids brought home a wild cali king. they put the two snakes in the same cage together, a day later there is a dead boa and a really fat kingsnake. so just to say dont mix known snake eaters with other snakes (unless for breeding ^_^)
