How important is Tank Height (thinking about getting boaphile combo or moonstruck)

Diego May 22, 2004 11:33 AM

There have been alot of recent tank discussions lately and im just now going to be purchasing stacks of tanks. I was interested in the Moonstruck tanks, but do not like that double window setup they have... but can still overlook that. The price is great and the tanks are nice. These tanks are the 4 footers and I do not think are expandable.. you can howerver split them in the middle making 2 tanks

On that note i was also interested in Jeffs new stack combo, but am wondering if Adult boas will be ok in tanks that are 11.5H. Im sure they will be but is this ok long term? He is offering 2 combo packages.. ones that are 11.5H and the others that are 17.5 or something like that(also 4 foot).. which you can later on decide to add a shelf to these tanks (which I like)
These are expandable.. im not sure if they are in this combo though - i think its an extra charge (blah).

Its a toss up for me..

The 12 inch height is good. A lot of breeders use a different tank with a smaller height so you will be fine with the 12 inches.

The only time that the added height is needed is if you have a fairly large boa in the enclosure and want to use the height to add a shelf so your boa has more floor space to use. The 11.5" height for a boa up to 6 1/2' in the 4x2x1 enclosure will not effect the boa in any way. (I have a 6 1/2' male in a 4' moonstruck and he has more then ample room to move around and stretch out.

Good luck with what ever you decide to order as all of them are great products.

Man this is turning out to be a harder choice as time goes on. How many of the Moonstruck tanks do you have?? Im just wondering how many I would be able to stack ontop of eachother before i started to worry

Unfortunately I only have one. Every time I went to make an order I had something pop up so I haven't gotten any more. I do want to get 3 more though so I can have a nice clean look to the stack rather then an oddball mix and match. I know I have seen them stacked 6 high without any problem what so ever, and that was in a room with several stacks of them that high.
