Odd behavior

Ecko May 22, 2004 06:35 PM

I caught a Speckled Kingsnake last week that was dehydrated and has an injured tail, so i'm keeping him till he's better. He acts fine most of the time, just a little weak, but when I am carrying him around he usually lays still, hangs upside-down and watches the floor. Is this normal or is he just a weird snake? I've never seen another snake do this. Any ideas?

If he is a sick snake the worst thing you can do is carry him around. Snakes undergo a lot of stress during handling which will weaken the animal. A sick snake being handled is a death sentence.
