Stopped eating for a 2nd time...

wolfgirl591 May 22, 2004 07:06 PM

I was wondering if there could be any other reason that this would happen again, she has not been under any unusual stress lately but she stopped eating and will not touch the 25 meal worms i put in her tank or the 15 crickets. She is also loosing a little bit of weight (she was really fat before) you can now see her side fold coming out (before it was flat). Do they usually loose weight before laying?
Thanks in advance

Stop offering the worms for prey. These can somtimes bind in the digestive system and cause the lizard to stop eating and even die. This is not always the case and I urge you to keep looking and seek the help of a vet but that would be the first thing I would look at.

I've fed a lot of mealworms over the years and while they are a little bit fattening, I've never had any problems with binding even when they were dominant dietary components.
