4.5 ft water....

mike_b May 22, 2004 07:23 PM

hey everyone, i have a water that is about 4 to 4.5 feet. he is in a nice big 8 x 4 x 4 cage now. i am going to have to be moving though in a couple months to an apartment. do any of u have clever ideas for cages big enough for a monitor this big that can fit through doors and fit in an apartment? also, he has been shedding alot of skin lately and his scales seem to be very dry and peeling, do any of u know of a home remedy for this so i can get his skin looking nice and bright again, he already has a misting system in the cage so i don't think it is bc it is not humid enough.
thanks alot,
mike

When my ball pythons scales are dry, I rub her with extra virgin olive oil, and her scales seem healthy and shiney afterwards. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be the same with monitors.

What are your temps? ie. Basking spot, ambient, cool side Humidity percentage?

Also what type of substrate are you using? Does it hold moisture/? Is it deep enough to burrow?

If all of these things are suitable, i'd suggest soaking it (once a week for 1 to 2 hours in room temperature water) in the tub.
