Blood from mouse on JCP eyeball, should I worry.

hefte May 22, 2004 07:34 PM

I feed fresh killed. Occasionally, the mice bleed a little. Often times there is a little streaking around her neck where she restricted the mouse but she actually has dried blood on her eye. I normally do not handle her for three or four days after feeding and my question is, should I soak her now or will the high temps in the cage kill any bacteria that may otherwise develop?

Snakes eyes have a clear scale over them. A drop of blood from a prey animal in the eye is no more dangerous to the snake than if you were to get a drop of blood from the rat on the back of your arm.

Let your snake rest and enjoy its meal.
