Basking Lamp

RoyC May 22, 2004 08:39 PM

How far away should the basking lamp be from where the turtle basks? I have a 75W.

The basking lamp should be as close as is required to heat the basking spot to the desired temp (high 80's to 90). Use a thermometer to get an accurate reading of the basking temp.

I place my basking light about 7-8 inches from the basking spot. I've used 60W and 75W and the turtles enjoy the heat in that they would position themselves right underneath the bulb.
