I'm not sure I am familiar with what a habba hut is.. Is it that zoo med or exo terra product that is half a coconut with a tiny hole used for poison dart frogs to nest in? Without seeing or knowing exactly what this product is, I'm going to say no; for I have not seen a worthy product for monitor lizards manufactured by any of the big name suppliers...
In all actuality, I don't think there is anything that rivals corkbark when it comes to arboreal hides.. Now, I do realize that you have a rudy, which do get bigger than my tree monitors, however you should be able to apply the cork to them, just keep their larger size in mind.. if you go to the caging/supplies classifieds on this website, there are a bunch of people selling cork and cork tubes... it's relatively cheap, and invaluable to a monitor keeper.. You could also check the local shows; I know there's a guy who comes up here to the shows in the NE ever so often with a plethora of cork...for dirt cheap too.. I also have a connection with the local silk plant designer in my town; I got a bunch from them for practically nothing(heck, after all, I've spent a fortune on synthetic plants from them)...
Post a pic of this habba hut, or describe it for us, but I have a feeling that it is either just a half of a hollowed out log or something..not something that will give them the tight, secure feeling...
Does anybody else have any recommendations or suggestions for his hide area? Does anybody know what a habba hut is; any experience with them??
Anyways, take care, I'll try to go find out what this thing is...talk to you later,
bob
