The alligator snapping turtle, the largest freshwater turtle in the world, too big for me to explain. Can weight more than 200 pounds.

You know I think Alligator Snapping Turtles are not really aggressive they are more defensive. I'd say the most aggressive turtle out there that I've seen was a smaller guy. Geomyda spengleri (Vietnamese Leaf Turtles). When I interned at a zoo the male would come from one side of the tank to the other to attack yor hand. It was some wild stuff!

I think they are cool turtles. They only get like maybe 6 inch carapace. They have white eyes and look like a typical leaf turtle. They are voracious eaters too. That thing would eat 2 large earthworms and 5 superworms ever other day. Every week or two we'd give it a pinky or 2 with it. He was a hoss. The females ate just as much too, but were slightly less aggressive.

Alligator snappers are a defensive minded turtle and will not attack a human unless provoked. These suckers look really mean though and can inflict some major damage on someone. The guy at my local pet store has one that is about 75 pounds that he calls ' A baby'.. this thing is HUGE and could definately tear a limb off.
