Feeding Frozen Fish

Frogger1985 May 22, 2004 11:36 PM

I was wondering if anyone has ever fed their ACFs frozen feederfish. I have 3 adults that eat mostly goldfish. The goldfish are messy and my aquarium is very cloudy and yellow, and i was told that it was probably becuase how often the goldfish go to the bathroom. I thought maybe i could freeze the fish and feed the frogs that way.

If anyone has tried this and found any problems, please let me know.

Thanks,
Crissy

Although I am not an expert on Frogs, I have heard that feeding frozen anything to frogs isn't a good thing. They have delicate stomachs. So I would avoid freezing before feeding, because you would have to thaw it out first. Ask you local pet store for either a better idea, or even if freezing is a good way to go. I would also try a tank treatment called clear out or crystal clear it'll help uncloud tanks, or even a destresser agent.

I would stop feeding Goldfish to the frogs all together. They are not the most nutritious fish. They are also hard to digest. If you must feed fish to your frogs,I recommend using rosey reds, guppies, and shinners.

You can also feed them night crawlers. You can buy them at any bait store as well as Walmart.Very nutritious. No spines to get caught in the frogs' mouth or stomach. They are also a lot easier for the frogs to catch and easier to store. You can rince off the dirt from the worm.Maybe cut it up depending on the size of the frogs. This way the only bio load in your tank is from the frogs. Not the various feeder fish that live for a day or more.
