Here's a new pic of the Mutt Male. It's still too early to say what he will look like when he's a real adult.

take away the red speckling on the back. They usually start to show orange in the tail by that size. What does the tail look like?

That one looks exactly like the mutt I got from Dave...I hope it gets a red tail...I'd even settle for yellow or orange for that matter. The tail on my little mail looks the same as it always has...Mine has some red flecks along his flanks too. He used to have the red speckling on the back, but that seems to have faded a bit.

I realize this pic is too washed out, but just wanted to post him again. I should be able to get some better pictures of him, since he's one of the most tolerant lizards in the pen right now.

The pattern looks like a maturing male redtail. They do not start to show the red in the tail until about 8-10 inches. It starts near the base. Those mutts started out quite dark where as the pures start out light(tan) then start to get black speckling and by about 2-3 years the black has filled in completely and the tail is pretty much all orange. It will be interesting to see if their tails get orage.
