cricket containment

herper1990 May 23, 2004 10:33 AM

hi Ive had my 8 month old beardie male for about four months. He is a beast mesuring in at 18 inches long and only 8 months old. He just guzzles down the crickets. Ive been using a tank to hold the crickets that I order in bulk. About 500 a month. It seems to work well but the smell gets pretty bad. des anyone know a better way. thanks

I've yet to find a way to keep the crickets from smelling at all. I have found that the more airflow the container gets, the less pungent the smell is. I have a giant rubbermaid container with a huge hole cut in the top, and a smaller one with no top at all. The smaller one, even with just as many crickets, doesn't smell quite so bad. It still smells a little though. Just be sure to take out any old food and try to keep it tidy, that's all I can tell ya.
