Will not eat his greens!

artsykitten Jun 17, 2003 05:31 PM

Hello,
Pharoah is about a year and a half old, and he wont eat his veggies anymore! at first i thought i had accidentally gotten him addicted to superworms, because after i introduced them to him thats all he wanted to eat. But today i got him crickets and he ate those too. and he ate a waxworm the other day as well. so he will only eat bugs and not his veggies anymore. i dont get it.

all of a sudden he refuses them now. his salad consists of collard greens (which he used to LOVE), turnip greens, sweet potato, green beans, green peppers, acorn squash, and occasionaly blackberries or strawberries. he just...doesnt want anything to do with it anymore. any suggestions? his temps are fine (basking spot 105-115, cool side usually stays at 80).

one thing i was thinkin was...can they tell when the UVB bulb isnt giving out UV anymore? Because i forgot all about changing it after 6 months and ive had the same light for almost a year. so i just got a new bulb, a reptiglo 8.0 (the last bulb was a reptisun 5.0) and i just put it in there...maybe is that why he hasnt been real big on eating his veggies? i dont know, just something i thought of. Thanks for any replies

When you talk of feeding your beardie green beans, squash, sweet potato etc. are you cooking it first or chopping/shredding raw or what?? I feed my dragons pellets and greens/fruits for a treat but I would like to give them more of a variety.

I just chop em up raw You can shred them too but i usually just cut em up into squares that are bite sized for him.
