Sure go ahead, be excited, you have a Hypo Common Snapping Turtle, you can sell it for probably around $1000.

I don't know about that. I've seen lots of lighter than normal snapping turtles and it seems a lot of people are calling them hypos? If you can get $1000 for it by all means go for it but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Even if its not hypo, its a beautiful light colored specimen. They are the excpetion. I would keep the turtle, because I am a snapping turtle nut, and its beautiful.

Yeah, it's a pretty turtle, but it's just light.

Email me if you want to see a pic of a true "hypo" or albanistic turtle. I have a really nice male that I am selling, proven, etc. He is an amazing pearl color. Your turtle is a nice one, but it looks just like a normal snapper without too much growth on his shell! Most turtles clean up nice with the use of a fine bristle tooth brush, and a little water! Give that a try on this one, and maybe it will lighten up a tad more? I would say it is worth around 50-100 bux MAX!

you said it looks like a normal snapper. I am not claming it to be anything but I know enough that it is not just a normal snapper. I have a pond full of normal snappers. I in no way cleaned this one off. You see it just as i pulled it from the pond. I am sure if i cleaned it up there would not be a dark spot on it. The picture actually is darker than what it looks like but i took the picture under incadescent bulb and it looks orange but is actually a lemon yellow. Anyway, it is not for sale for any price. My intention was to get honest answers from honest people. Obviously as you have a hypo for sale you have a seperate agenda. I also did not appreciate your attitude (no way in hell) The fact is something is worth exactly what one person is willing to pay for it and the other is willing to sell for. Not a penny more or less. I have actually been offered $1,000 for it by a person who has seen it in person and had cold hard cash but as I said it is not for sale for any price and never did I give the impression that it was. I just wanted you to know that you obviously do not know what you are talking about.

My snapper is a lot different, I can't even really call it a hypo. The turtle you have is beautiful, and while I wouldn't pay too much for it the fact remains that it is a bizarre animal! I think you should take a very soft bristle tooth brush, and see how it looks after a gentle rub down! I have caught literally hundreds of snappers, and I've only seen a few like the one you have. The term "hypo" seems to fit the animal pretty well. I am sorry if I came off as negative, as that was not my intent. The animal you have would make for an interesting breeder, and while I wouldn't shell out a thousand bux for it I am sure someone would pay a pretty good ammount of money for it. The price one will pay is what it is worth - as you pointed out! I would personally hang onto it as you never know how it will clean up. If you ever want to trade turtles (offspring) or whatever keep in touch! Those are good genetics to breed into a bloodline!

Note: attached is a pic of the ivory snapper I have
