what kind of turtle is this

my son was playing down by a small pond by our home in albertville al and he found two turtles we discovered one was a box turtle but we cannot figure out what the other one is we have some pics can you tell me what kind of turtle this is? it has a dark color top with some yellowish orangs on it it is yellowish orange on the bottom it has yellow stripes on its legs ,neck and face

It sounds like a painted turtle to me. Does the orange on the back of the shell form a line that goes from the head of the turtle to the tail? How big is it? What part of AL is Albertville in?

The other possibility is it may be a chicken turtle.
