Which would be the heading of this story in a newspaper...lol I went out to check on all my critters in my snake shed when I heard that distinct rustling sound come from one of my storage racks. At first I thought that I had accidently left a cage open, or something had escaped. It sounded heavey bodied, so I checked the copperhead cage first! But everyone was secured, and home. I poked my head under the rack to find a "very happy" 3-4' long redbelly for a second before he/she took off around the wall basin. I finally cornered the snake, and it gave me a good urate/musk bath, combined with not striking outright, but opening its mouth and flailing, resulting in about 5 cuts resembling paper cuts, except that they bled more. It's very heavy bodied, which could lean toward a gravid female, however the tail looks pretty long...so I'm not 100% yet. Also just so happens to be the firs adult I've come across this year...or the first adult that came across me!
