E. Hognose??? Found today....

Parrotmom May 23, 2004 04:17 PM

I live in Southern MD and believe I found a E.Hognose today, perhaps someone could confirm the identification as s/he seems more colorful then the ones in my field guide and what I've seen on this board. Also the belly was black ... as where the field guide mentioned it being a ground/yellow color?? Also s/he never accutally "played opussum" for me, just flattened down and huffed, I really would have enjoyed the display

Below is a picture of the snake - I would love to know if this is a normal color, I think s/he is just beautiful!!

Thanks,
Stacey

That's a pretty one you got there. I've seen some with similar colors, but most of those were captive bred. More then likely, those colors will fade as it grows. On the other hand, I've seen one or two real nice wild caught adults that kept that nice color. Cheers!

is that you never know what you will get. Sometimes the prettiest babies stay pretty, sometimes they end up dark brown or black. Some of the ugliest babies sometimes end up being bright red adults. It really is intresting.
