Hey, I have a 2 year old California Desert Tortoise . The top of the shell I can gently press down on it. Isn't it supoosed to be really hard? Is that a calcium problem? Should I mix in calcium w/ his daily foods?

No offend but I hope you didn't kept him in the closet all these years...unless you pick him up from the wild, there are plenty of people in the CTTC who will be more than willing to help you out because these ARE their babies!!! so please, for the animal sake: call your local chapter or go online : www.tortoise.org.
