Raptorman May 23, 2004 04:56 PM

Hey all. I'm building a pond/habitat outside and wanted to put some frogs and toads in there. I live in Southern California. i was htinking some tree frogs, california toad and somehitng else..not sure.........maybe a fire belly frog? Are fire belly frogs poisonest so if a turtle by accidently ate one it would die? i want three types of frogs that can kinda live together.

There are many frogs that would do great around your pond. Green treefrogs would do great as long as you have quite a bit of vegitation. You could also get gray treefrogs (pretty call) , spring peepers, american wood frogs, etc. You can usually find green and gray treefrogs pretty cheep if you buy them in quantity. We tried this in our pond as well, we found that they stick around better if you catch/buy them as tads, and let them metamorphosize in your pond. I don't know if firebellies are poisonous. Good luck!
