new ball python

i have had this python for 2 days and it is about 12 inchs i was wondering how long should i wait before i hold it

Dear New Owner:

Unless the animal is sick or has eaten very recently (last two or three days) there should be no problem with you holding it now. Always be concious of the fact that snakes are generally head shy so approach the head slowly and steadily.

I prefer to wait until after the first feeding. It's what has worked for me in getting hatchlings start eating.
