Golden Greek & Humidity

peimom May 23, 2004 08:31 PM

I have been putting my G. Greeks outside during the day (bringing them in at night) but am concerned about the long-term effects of Tennessee humidity. We can easily reach 75-100% humidity in the summer.

Should I stop putting them outside or does the benefits of natural sunlight outweigh the risks of humidity?

If you leave them out at that humidity level I guarantee you'll have RNS and vet bills that will leave spellbound.

Treat them like an Egyptian tort. Humidity over 60% for any length of time is almost always fatal...except in their hide area.

When the humidity goes over 60% here (I live in a Minneapolis suburb) in the summer mine are in a heartbeat.

Use Egyptian tort husbandry practicies for them and they are bullet-proof.
