Why's my male so aggressive with my female....?

cwgw1 May 24, 2004 01:56 AM

OK.....so I've got two CBB '03 leos I acquired from K&N Reptiles. The male is a lot bigger than the female, and as of late he's been constantly biting and holding onto her tail, back, and neck. They're too young to breed aren't they, not to mention its not breeding season?? Anyone have any ideas...?

I would definately separate them, however I myself have never breed, so I can't give personal advice on the topic. I would read the post tiltled "Should I be worried about females laying too soon?", it is about half way down the page. I think it relates quite a bit to your question.

p.s. Nice looking geckos.

i had a pair for 3 years and i never had them fight nor has the female EVER produced a single egg. several months back i noticed my male doing exactly what you are describing. my first eggs (infertile) came about 2 weeks ago.

just because the female isn't ready to breed....males mature long before females do....biting of the neck and tail is a sure sign of breeding behavior....i would seperate them...the female will get stressed out and end up losing her appetite...i know from personal experience....the guys just looking for some love....lol
