Any Such Thing As Snake Treats?

kta May 24, 2004 07:33 AM

Is it possible that you can get TREATS for your snake? For instance, I also have a pet rat. The rat has his normal ratty food, but for treats he also has bonio biscuits, chocolate drops, potato etc. Are there anything similar for a snake?

Also what about snake entertainment, I have a tree for mine, a bark hide etc but is there a snake equivilent of a hamster wheel? :D

I sometimes give my adult snakes "popcorn"... when I've already fed the little ones and one of my breeding groups of mice goes sour, leaving a variety of little baby mice.... I just distribute a certain quantity to each adult snake I feel might consume them. They're like popcorn... enough for a temporary feeling of fullness, but over not really all that nutritious.

A "wheel" for snakes? The more tubes and hiding places, the more happy the snake is. He will certainly enjoy his exercise as he slithers from one hiding place to the next.

I know of people who give their snakes chicks (as in baby chickens) as an occasional treat. This means the snake needs to be adult-sized to handle them... but they are a full meal, not a snack.

"You keep WHAT in your freezer?"
"Mice. And rats. If that bothers you, I can call them 'cows' instead."
