Biak Type a good start?

Tairo May 24, 2004 04:53 PM

Looking through the classifieds I noticed quite a few posts advertising the Biak type tree boa. IS this a ETB ATB or GTP? Also is Biak refer to its coloration or locality? These seem to retain color for a good amount of time. Please excuse my ignorance and thank you in advance.

Biak is a GTP, and is a locality. Don't worry about the questions, keep them coming and soon enough you'll find yourself answering other people's questions. Good luck with your search for the perfect tree snake! It is addicting! Another route you might want to try would be jungle carpet pythons or irian jaya carpet pythons. They are from the same genus as GTPs, are a little less arboreal, but are still semi-arboreal, and are beautiful! IMHO anyway! And their humidity requirements are less stringent than ATBs, GTPs, or ETBs. Once again, good luck!

Thank you Ben. It would seem these are not only more beautiful than my red tails but also more rewarding if kept sucessfully. I agree Jungle Carpets are very attractive, but I am drawn to these "on fire" tree pythons lol.

I know what you mean! I love GTPs, and ETBs, but have not had the guts to get any yet. I have 1.1 ATBs, 0.1 JCP, and 2.2 IJCPs which are all doing great! So here in the next year or two I think I'll be getting some GTPs or ETBs. Let us know what you end up with!
