Future breeding project

Snake_Charmer May 24, 2004 04:57 PM

Here is a future breeding project for me, talk about arranged marriages :P
The 'skunk' stripe female on top will be arriving here in a few days from Satyrday Reptiles, and the reversed stripe male on bottom is from my own stock, they are both '03s. I think they should make some nice babies in a couple of years.

Those are two very nice Calikings, but I believe the bottom pic not to be a reverse stripe, but rather a Newport phase striped specimen. I am sure Kerby can show us some of his nice, "true" reverse stripes, or someone else out there like Don Shores.
I do hope you produce some awesome little californiae. Again, very nice specimens.

"skunk" striped??? As compared to striped??? Looks like a normal striped cal king. Nice one though

I wouldn't call the other one a reverse striped and I wouldn't call it a Newport strain either. It's just an aberrant cal king (nice looking too).... BUT, it will be interesting to see what they produce. I've bred a couple of different looking stripe cal kings this year too, so we will have to see what pops out.

Good luck

I think she's being referred to as a 'skunk' stripe because her stripe is so wide compared to that of the traditional striped cal king.
And you're right, that little 'reversed' stripe male of mine came from a banded mother and a banana father who I have bred together again this year. Mum is currently in pre-lay shed. There was another full striped sibling (female) in that clutch tho she's not quite as clean as he is. I have a male from a previous clutch from the same parents who is half banded and half 'reverse' striped like him, pretty neat snake. I'll try get a current pic of him to post.
Thanks for the compliments, means a lot
