Some Questions?

Lovesallanimals May 24, 2004 05:04 PM

I Have this 7 inch red eared slider. He hates me when I have to take him out of the water to clean his shell everyday becuse he never gets out of the water to sun. He never tries to bite me if my hand is in the water with him but as soon as he is out of the water he kicks and is tring to bite me like crazy. Is there any way that I could get him to trust me and calm down a little bit. Also yesterday when I was cleaning his shell I noticed that one of the spots on the bottom part of his shell is comming offis this normal?

Thanks,
Stephanie

Does he have a properly lighted basking area with correct temps that he can climb onto? You shouldn't have to clean him everyday, I think I have handled my turtles 3 or 4 times in the last 4 years. Mine bask a lot tho. They do shed their scutes, so the shedding is probably normal, as long as their is a new scute underneath.
