Egg question, please answer if you can.

amazinglyricist May 24, 2004 06:04 PM

I have one leopard gecko egg incubating currentl, about 80 degrees farenheight in a 50/50 mx of perlite/vermiculite thats moist, the eg is sort of light brownish now but nothing appears to be growing off of it and there's no smell coming from it, do you think it still has a chance to hatch, or did it go bad?

How long has it been incubating for?
and is it fertile?

It's beenincubating since May 11th, if it were infertile I think it would have collapsed by now or have a bad odor coming from it, the egg is fairly firm looking as retile eggs go. Oh yeah, and this is the one egg that made it from my females first clutch, the oter collapsed when I went to move it to a separate conainer for incubation.

I have one that is doing the same thing, and I'm pretty sure it isn't fertile. The other egg that was in that clutch is in the trash it was not fertile. Try candleing your egg and see if it is fertile. My females 2nd and 3rd clutch are fertile and they look completely different than the 1st clutch. I'm just going to leave my egg in the incubator and if it doesn't hatch oh well. Try looking to see if it is fertile though. If you see a pink or red glow than it is fertile. Hope this helps
