Parasite Medication For Wild Caught Snakes?

Agkistro May 24, 2004 09:03 PM

Well, i dont have much money and was wandering if there is an easier/cheaper route to take in possibly killing off parasites.

The Vet will charge me alot of money I'm guessing, so i was wandering if there are any over the counter snake parasite medications that are effective against a wide variety of parasites.

I have 6 wildcaught northern copperheads that i would like to check out, im guessing they have parasites as they dont seem to be too willing to eat..

any help appreciated..

I don't know of any OTC meds that will be effective in eliminating internal parasites. How would you identify the parasites you want to eliminate? How do you even know for sure the snakes have a parasite load that requires treatment? How do you know that this is the cause for the loss of appetite?

You need to understand that the meds used to treat internal parasites can be very dangerous if improperly dosed. You also need to understand that there are different meds required for different parasites.

The problem may be related to stress or incorrect environmental conditions and have nothing to do with parasites.

I would certainly strongly advise against treating just for the sake of treating.
