Copperhead (Agkistrodon contotrix ssp.). Probably wouldn't kill you, but you would be in a world of hurt. Let it go somewhere close to where you found it, but far enough away from people so that it will not be found and killed, or bite anyone. Luckily, most are not too aggressive as far as venomous snakes go, but don't let that fool you. Some of them are extremely bitey.

Thats a copperhead. It's venomous and can make you sick but won't kill you unless you are allergic to the venom. I see em all the time here in PA.

Just so you know most States have a guide on their websites as to what type of snakes live in your State. It's a good idea to check up on that as there are far more deadly snakes out there then copperheads. One way to tell some venomous snakes is the head and eyes. If you notice the copper head has almost 'cat' like eyes with vertical pupils. You'll also notice the triangular-shaped head. That's a main way to tell if the snake is venomous, although not ALL snakes that are venonous have triangular shaped heads. Again check your States reptile guide to find out more.

Yes it is a Copperhead(Agkistrodon) but what i can't get is why the hell would you take the snake if you didn't know if it was venomous or not??? Good way to get killed.
