What adult snake can thrive in a 10 gallon tank?
Better to use a plastic underbed storage box as a 10 gallon has a lot of wasted space due to its height. Most snakes rarely will utilize this height.
I recommend Kenyan sand boas or rosy boas for small enclosures. However, only a little bit larger will allow for many more species to be adequately housed.
Don't limit yourself to a 10 gallon.
Yeah, go bigger. But I understand if you have one lying around to use.
Male Kenyan Sand Boa
male Western Hognose
Scarlet Kingsnake (I think)

The 10 gallon tank is underated as a habitat. Any snake that has a maximum length of two feet or under can comfortably live in a 10. Espexcially Kingsnakes which are predominently Fossorial.
The exception is racer type snakes because they require more ground space. On the other side of the coin, I have kept Adult rough green snakes ( to 3')many times in 10's and as long as there are a lort of branches to climb, they are quite happy.

Well...10 gallon tanks are pretty small for most adult snakes. I used one for my yearling rat snake and he could most likely still live in it now but I moved him over to a 29 gallon cause he is about 2 feet long now. Most ribbon and garter snakes do pretty good in 10 gallons. 10 gallon is perfect for say one or two anoles as long as they aren't two males or a house gecko or some other small lizard. Dekay snakes can also live very comfortable in a 10 gallon.
The reason why I want to know is because my Anole I had in there just died and now I want a snake.
