Good news about Teo and her eyes!

Gunilla May 25, 2004 09:53 AM

My vet called today and she had great news. It was absolutely nothing wrong with Teo’s blood. She said that the blood in Iguanas and BDs (for example) could act this way (the red blood cells were dividing/splitting). So it was normal - not cancer that was my worst fear!

The only thing the vet COULD think of that Teo had an “early stage of problems with her kidneys”. When it is early it is impossible to see in a blood test. So I shall give her some extra water to drink and bathe her every day. I will also take blood tests every 6 months to see if everything keeps normal.

The vet still doesn’t have any idea why her eyes are the way they are ("bulged". It could be due to high blood pressure. That can also be caused by kidney problems.

So hopefully Teo will live a long life despite her problems. At least I know she is in absolutely no pain and it is nothing seriously wrong with her.

/Gunilla

Gunilla,

That is wonderful news! I am so relieved! Thanks for keeping us up to date on Teo's situation. You take such excellent care of your beardies that you set a high standard for all of us to follow. Take care and give Teo a great big juicy worm for me!

Great news Gunilla. So happy it is nothing painful or devastating. Good idea to do the blood tests every now and then just to be safe, and catch anything that might pop up in the very early stages. Good luck with her, and she sure is a lucky dragon to have an owner who loves her as much as you do. Thanks for the update on her results.
